Daughter of a gynaecologist obstetrician and real estate broker; Adrienne started out as a simple dress maker and became one of the most controversial designers on the internet. Before gawker and 4chan…Wu's self-taught work began at in 2008 with 50 dresses being posted on the early days of Facebook that led to opportunities to produce her fashion shows and collections across the country…most notably at the National Gallery Of Canada. After being a signed designer with IMG for three seasons at Toronto Fashion Week in 2012 she ventured into some corporate collaborations that included Margaret Atwood, The Textile Museum of Canada and Freed Development's Fashion House Condos. In 2014, Wu started a wearable technology company called fleecer.ca that only briefly existed for two years which later evolved into a YouTube channel that focused as a transgender and non-binary advocacy platform which holstered videos with over 60 thousand views. The platform is now a discord server called FS NEO. In 2015 she was discovered by trans writer and activist Meredith Talusan at Buzzfeed and was later offered an opportunity to contribute at Huffington Post with her own column. This column explored queer theory, transgender studies, and transhumanism. Since then she has been heavily involved in community based activism in conjunction with S.O.Y (Support Our Youth) a grassroots organization funded by Sherbourne Health Center. After a 5 year hiatus in fashion and design…Adrienne Wu will be moderating a conference this coming December 1st 2020, hosted by Ryerson University and The Suzanne Rogers Fashion Institute School of Fashion.
